A great way to start off a new week! This past Tuesday, March 25th, an army of deathcore musicians stopped by Toronto’s Danforth venue and brought one hell of a crowd with them! Alluvial, 200 Stab Wounds, Brand of Sacrifice, and Whitechapel put on a show the city should never forget.
Alluvial kicked off the night of breakdowns, with the first half of their set featuring fan-favorite tracks from their project Sarcoma, and the second half showcasing newer material from Death Is But A Door, with "Bog Dweller" being the final blast beat-filled track the crowd heard from the Atlanta-based band.
200 Stab Wounds came out swinging with guttural screams, face-melting drumming, and insanely technical guitar work that could captivate anyone in attendance. Steve, Lance, Ezra, and Owen each stood out in their own uniquely talented way! The band gave the crowd a taste of each project they’ve created over the years, closing their set with the chug-fueled track "Tow Rope Around The Throat."
Brand of Sacrifice, The final opening performance was about to start, and there was a lot of excitement for everyone to see the Toronto-based deathcore powerhouse hit the hometown stage. Walking out to the Pokémon theme song and giving the crowd a good laugh, the energy quickly switched up as the band began shredding through "Dawn." The pits spread throughout the floor, getting bigger and bigger as the set continued! The band also treated the crowd to an unreleased track, with earth-shattering screams and riffs.
Whitechapel, Talk among the crowd could be heard as fans anticipated which songs from the new album would be played during tonight’s headlining set. Those questions were soon answered as Whitechapel members walked out onto the stage. Echoes of the song "Prisoner 666" began to fill the venue before the iconic opening line of the track was shouted by Phil Bozeman and the audience! The band followed up with the album's title track, "Hymns in Dissonance," which had crowd surfers flowing over the barricades. Whitechapel curated a perfectly articulated setlist for fans, whether old or new, including tracks from many past projects and even from the band’s very first release. The Knoxville natives closed their set with fan-favorite tracks "Our Endless War" and "The Saw Is the Law," followed by an encore of "Doom Woods." You can catch Whitechapel and the rest of the bands on the Hymns in Dissonance tour until April 19th!
